The Outdoor Program

The Outdoor Program is one of the central "methods" of Scouting and is like a thread that runs through all of our Scouting programs.  Scouts, parents and leaders enjoy the outdoor activities and, when they are age-appropriate, they become the highlight features and favorite memories for our youth.

Every Scout program can enjoy outdoor activities.  Even the youngest Tiger Cub den can enjoy a short nature hike, family-based camping or Fun With Son weekends.  As the Scout grows, he'll begin to experience higher degrees of challenge in his outdoor program including Day Camps, resident camping as a Cub Scout or Boy Scout and high adventure activities as he gets into his teenage years.  See the chart "Ever-Increasing Challenge Out-Of-Doors" to see how the experiences of one year become the foundtation for future, more-challenging activities later on.

The links to the left will help you plan for a whole variety of outdoor activities and camping events in the Gulf Ridge Council.  If you still have quesitons after reading what's on the website, send an email to our Cub Scout Camping Information Center or our Boy Scout and Venturing Camping Info Box and someone will get back to you soon.

Using Our Camps

Scouts from Gulf Ridge Council, as well as other groups are welcome to reserve space at our camp facilities based on availability.  If you are interested in using one of our camps for an outing, submit a Camp Use Permit (on the forms page of this website) or send an email to program@boyscouting.com for more information.

Also, please read the note below:

Please begin using this NEW Camp Use Permit effective September 1, 2007. With the increases in the property insurance cost to the council (nearly 3 times what it was in 2006), we have been forced to adjust our camp use fees. The user fees ($2.00/night or $4.00/weekend for Gulf Ridge Council Scouts and $4.00/night or $8.00/weekend for all others) is to be submitted with your Camp Use Permit to secure your reservation. If you want to take advantage of any special programs (COPE, climbing, shooting sports, boating, etc.) or facilities (cabin, dorm, dining hall, etc), there will be modest additional charges. Please review the Camp Facilities Fees chart

As before, we ask for your reservation to be submitted to the Council Service Center at least 2 weeks before your planned camping date.
