Units Online

Does your Scout unit have its own website?  If so, you might consider sharing it with other Scout leaders so they can get some ideas about what your Scouts have been up to and may want to use some of those ideas in their own Scouting programs.  The Gulf Ridge Council will gladly link your unit to our website, as long as you can follow the Internet Guidelines as well as the National Council's "Advice for Personal and Unit Websites." And of course, you are always encouraged to link our website, www.boyscouting.com, to your webpage.

Here are the general guidelines for your unit to included on this page but please, review the linked information in the preceding paragraph as well. All unit sites will be monitored and may be removed at any time if the guidelines and advice are not followed.

  • No advertising of any kind (watch out for banner ads and pop-ups, too)
  • The content of the site must be appropriate for the Scout movement.
  • No links to any sites that contain material that is not appropriate to Scouting.
  • No information that could personally identify a youth member (full name, name with photo, rosters with phone numbers, email addresses, etc.)
  • No information that would detail when and where Scouts might be gathered for camps and outings.

One word of caution:

Carefully check out any "free" or "cheap" web hosting sites before you use their service for your unit web site.  Many (most) are only free to you because they get money from advertisers.  You'll have no control over the advertisers, content, graphic images, etc. and experience has proven that many (some) times those images are inappropriate for a Scout site.  Of course, any advertising violates the BSA non-commercial policy anyway.

Below are the Gulf Ridge Council units that are currently linked to this website.
