Family Friends of Scouting
The Family Phase of the Friends of Scouting campaign is one of the most important. Here, volunteers from the district or council have the opportunity to speak face-to-face with the parents of Scouts at a pack meeting, troop Court of Honor, etc. They can share the message of how the many, varied services provided by the Gulf Ridge Council have a positive impact on the program delivered at the local unit level. Scout families begin to understand how the council spends its money (87% is spent directly on youth and unit-related support services) and how the monies come into the council. Families consider how they and their son have benefitted from the Scouting program and then make an informed decision about the level of financial support they wish to extend to the council to help underwrite the costs of these program activities and services.
For more information, please refer to the 2006 FOS Brochure or contact someone at the Council Service Center (813) 872-2691.
