Eagle's Nest

The Eagle Scout Award is the highest award that can be earned by a Boy Scout. Less than 5% of Scouts nationwide ever reach the Eagle rank. Therefore, those that do are recognized for their hard work and perseverance and their ability to rise above those obstacles that might cause others to stumble. The Trail to Eagle is long and sometimes difficult, but only those accomplishments that caused us to grow beyond our comfort zones truly bring us the greatest satisfaction.

New Eagle Scout Application effective May 1, 2008

The new printing of the Eagle Scout Rank Application, No. 58-728, has a notable change. Now, under Requirement 5, the name of the candidate’s Eagle project is required, as well as the grand total of hours devoted to it (from page 10 of the Eagle Scout Leadership Project Workbook). The new application will be required beginning May 1, 2008. These new forms will soon replace the version currently linked to www.boyscouting.com

The information about Eagle projects will be entered along with other information from Eagle Scout rank applications, and will be stored on our database and accessed through the BSA's Program Administration System.  Councils will be able to run reports at the district or council level. This new database of Eagle projects will also be available at area, region, and national levels.

Gulf Ridge Council Eagle Scout Scholarship

Each year the Gulf Ridge Council recognizes a number of our college-bound Eagle Scouts with scholarships.  These are awarded based on the merit of those who submit the official Scholarship Form by the published due date.   These forms must be completed and submitted to the Eagle Scout Scholarship Committee along with all requested supporting documents by April 4 as shown at the top of page one.

There is a new scholarship form developed each year, especially for members of that Eagle Class.  An "Eagle Class" is made up of all Scouts who successfully completed an Eagle Scout Board of Review during that calendar year.  So for instance, members of the Eagle Class of 2006 had their boards of review between 1/1/06 and 12/31/06.

If you are member of the Eagle Class of 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004 or 2003

you may qualify for one of the Eagle scholarships presented in 2008. Click here to download a copy of the 2008 Eagle Scholarship Form.

NOTE:  Eagle Scholarships are not necessarily tied to college tuition costs.  Especially for our younger Eagle Scouts who may be several years away from college, these scholarships can be applied to BSA High Adventure or training events, with prior approval.  See the details on the scholarship form.
