Lifesaving/Heroism
The Boy Scouts of America teaches emergency preparedness and first aid to even the youngest of our members. And statistics show that 1 out of every 100 Scouts will use the skills he learned in Scouting to save another person's life.
The BSA has created several recognition levels to honor Scouts who knew what to do, how and when to do it, and applied their Scouting skills in an emergency situation. If you or another Scout that you know has performed a life-saving act or has done something to prevent a tragedy in a crisis situation, read the descriptions of the Heroism Awards (at the left). Perhaps one will fit your situation. If so, download and submit a nomination form to the local council Advancement Committee for consideration.
