At the Eagle Recognition Dinner

Be one of the special supporters of Scouting who honor the members of the Eagle Class of 2006 as a sponsor.  Click here for a 2007 Eagle Scout Sponsor Form, then read on for more information on how YOU can "Stand With An Eagle."

Each spring, the Gulf Ridge Council honors the young men who, within the previous year, have attained Scouting’s highest honor –the rank of Eagle Scout. This celebration is called the Eagle Recognition Dinner.

One of the most important features of the banquet is the pairing of each Eagle Scout with an adult sponsor who has made their career in the field of endeavor to which the Eagle Scout aspires.  This pairing provides a unique opportunity for Eagle Scout and sponsor alike. The sponsor has a one-on-one opportunity to introduce the Eagle to his future while serving as what often is the first professional contact the youth has with his chosen profession.

Those desiring to serve as Eagle sponsors contribute a $125.00 fee, which is used to cover the cost of the dinner. Proceeds from dinner are combined with donations from community sponsors to create scholarships which are presented that night.

The Eagle Recognition Banquet committee seeks sponsors from all walks of life and virtually every profession. From anesthesiology to zoology, there is an Eagle Scout who will benefit greatly by giving generously of your time and financial support.

Highlights of the 2008 Eagle Recognition Dinner

We've really put on our creative thinking caps this year and have some exciting new features you're sure to enjoy at this year's Eagle Recognition Dinner.

  • The Parade of Eagles: as each Eagle Scout enters the room, he'll be introduced and a brief review of his Eagle Project will be read.
  • The Eagle Photo: each 2006 Eagle in attendance will have a keepsake photo taken with a live bald eagle. The photo will be printed on the spot so he can take it with him that night.
  • The Eagle Sponsors: during the meal, Scouts have the opportunity to sit with an Eagle sponsor who works in a career of interest to them.
  • The Eagle Projects in Pictures: a running slide show that depicts the before, during and after views of dozens of our Eagle Scout service projects.
  • The Eagle Speaker: an inspiring and challenging address to help the Scout see how the skills he developed along the Eagle trail will serve him in future life.
  • The Gathering of Eagles: An impressive photo-op at the end of the evening with all of the representatives of the 2006 Eagle Class as well as ALL of the Eagle Scouts in attendance.
  • The Evening on CD: A professional photographer will be taking pictures throughout the evening. CD ROM’s of these photos will be produced and sent out afterwards for the estimated cost of $5.00. Click here for a CD Order Form.

This will be a fun, inspiring and memorable recognition for the Eagle Class of 2007.  Because of the new venue, it will not be a formal affair so leave your tuxedo at home.  Dress nice, but comfortable and come out to honor the 205 Gulf Ridge Council Eagle Scouts of 2007.
