PARADES AND OTHER ACTIVITIES

Don't overlook the fun-and the marketing opportunities-of your Scouts participating in parades. Whether it's the local Independence Day, Memorial Day or homecoming parade or something tied into a local fair or other event, your Scouts will have a great time on a float, riding decorated bikes or even as a walking entry.
- Tampa Scouts should consider the Gasparilla Children's Parade.
- Dade City Scouts should take a look at the Holiday Night parade.
- Lakeland has a big Martin Luther King Day parade.
Opportunities like these are available all over the council throughout the year. Whatever you do, be sure to check "Parade Restrictions and Safety" elsewhere on this web site.

NEW THIS YEAR
We have a new recognition piece for parade participation: a specially designed leather pocket patch from which you can hang a pair of beads for EACH parade you are in. Each parade will have an assigned color:
ORANGE for the Outback Bowl Parade
BLUE for the Gasparilla Children's Parade
RED for the Strawberry Festival Parade
DARK GREEN for other council-coordinated parades.
In time, you'll build your own, colorful history of parade participation on your very own bead totem.
To help us keep our records straight, we are asking for a ROSTER of PARADE PARTICIPANTS so we know who was in each parade each year. Please fill out the Parade Roster and turn it in--along with any remaining fees--to the Gulf Ridge Council parade coordinator at the Outback, Gasparilla or Strawberry Festival parade.
