The Activities and Civic Service Committee
The Activities and Civic Service Committee was established to help guide our Scout units into quality civic service projects and to develop exciting and meaningful activities.
"Civic Service" refers to most service projects that Scouts perform on a year 'round basis. Most of these qualify for Good Turn for America hours so don't forget to report those projects. Click HERE for a GTFA reporting link.
But, the A.C.S. committee also helps screen out some of the many requests we get for "the Scouts to help us out with…" which are sometimes not very Scout-like endeavors.
"Activities" encompass much of the Scouting program including recognition dinners, shows, short-term events (that are not training or camping programs) like the annual Health Fair and the "Stars and Strides" Fun Run. Unit committees should also have an Activities chairman. Check resources such as the Cub Scout Leader Book or the Troop Committee Guidebook for more information.
