Council Service Center
Guidelines for Use of the Council Service Center
The Gulf Ridge Council’s Scout Service Center is a great physical asset and one that serves a variety of functions. Besides housing the offices of the council staff, storage of unit membership and advancement records and space for the Tampa Bay Scout Shop, there are also three conference rooms and A-V equipment which are used regularly for training courses, meetings and other events plus a large green-space to the west of the building equipped with pavilions, tables and potable water.
The facilities of the Council Service Center are available for use by Scout groups and non-Scout groups alike. Certain criteria must be met:
- A member of the council staff—generally, the professional staff member assigned to that event—must be present throughout the event. We cannot just “open the building” for a group.
- The facility must be reserved in advance by someone on the staff. Volunteers who wish to reserve the building, a conference room, the green-space, etc. must make that request through their professional Scouter or someone else on the staff. Use This Form (also available in MS Word) to make your request.
- To offset the cost of increased utilities and supplies consumed, groups will be assessed a per-person fee for each 3 hours in the building: $1.00/person during regular business hours, $2.00/person for holiday, evening or weekend use. Fees are due at the time the reservation is made.
- Non-Scout groups must provide a certificate of liability insurance naming the Gulf Ridge Council as an additional insured (call for the most current requirements).

Fees are due at the time the reservation is made based on the reasonable estimated attendance. The staff member present at the event will verify attendance and collect additional user fees if necessary.
PLEASE NOTE:
Despite the fact that there are dinners held at the Council Service Center from time to time, the facility is NOT a banquet hall and is not really conducive to large dinners. There is a break room but no kitchen so all meals must be catered. There are existing tables and chairs for approximately 75 people—groups needing more seating will have to rent tables and chairs (or at least chair covers for folding chairs that are available but not suitable for banquet seating).
